Drumcree Parade Banned After Northern Ireland Deadlock
Northern Ireland Secretary Sir Chris Bryant has banned the Drumcree parade from proceeding along Garvaghy Road after almost two weeks of failed negotiations.
Sir Chris Bryant made the decision for peace. He stopped the parade on Garvaghy Road.
PSNI Chief Constable Jon Boutcher warned of danger. He warned of injury, disorder and more unrest.
Talks lasted almost two weeks. Portadown District Lodge and Garvaghy Road residents could not agree.
People discussed two possible plans. Both sides rejected both plans.
Orange Order members challenged the ban in court. A judge moved the case to Monday.
The judge said it was not an emergency.
