Christmas Rail Works to Cause Disruption Across Great Britain
Major railway routes in Great Britain will face significant disruption during Christmas engineering works, including closures and changes to services in London and elsewhere.
London Paddington station will close. Great Western trains will mainly start at Reading.
They will mainly finish there. Some trains will go to London Euston.
East London trains will face changes. This work will last ten days.
It starts on Christmas Day. The trains are Elizabeth line and Greater Anglia.
The section is Liverpool Street to Forest Gate. Trains will not run on this section.
The programme costs about £152 million. Network Rail said this.
The work will improve railway reliability. It will add more capacity.
Network Rail said Christmas is quieter. Most routes can stay open.
